I have 15 years of experience working as an editor, writer, and former English teacher. I take great joy in helping people communicate skillfully and authentically. In my current role as a freelance editor, I support authors and entrepreneurs who are seeking to connect meaningfully with their audiences.

Developmental Editing
One of the services I offer is developmental editing and writer’s coaching. This means looking at the big picture of your work with you, and then helping you determine your next steps. Conversation and deep listening are essential components of this process. This is also referred to as content editing, and it is most useful at the beginning of your creation process, when you are stuck, or when you are almost ready to publish.
I start by listening to you, reading what you’ve written so far, and asking intuitive questions so that I can connect with your vision.
We might cover questions like:
- What is working and what isn’t? What feels alive or authentic, and what feels flat or heady?
- If you’re stuck, or doubting yourself, what is going on for you underneath your writing?
- Is your message or story communicated clearly, consistently, and potently?
- How do we set up a schedule, mindset, or practice that keeps you focused?
- How do you walk your talk, so that the transformational potential of your work can shine through you?
Throughout our conversations, I encourage both of us to pause and listen deeply.

Line Editing and Copyediting
Once we have covered the big picture, we may move on to line editing, which means fixing sentence-level issues like awkward phrasing, clichés, or unintentional ambiguities. When your book or website is ready for publication, I do a final pass of copyediting, where I double-check for technical issues like spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
If I work with you regularly and already have a sense of your purpose and process, I’m happy to do technical editing or copywriting for new content.

Get Started
My rates are EFA industry standard:
- $55/hour for developmental editing, writers coaching, content editing, or copywriting.
- 2.5-5¢/word for line editing and copy-editing, depending on the extent of work needed.
- I do sometimes take pro bono cases and trades.
